Gertrude Stein was an American novelist, poet, and playwright.She is best known for her modernist writings, extensive art collecting and literary salon in 1920s Paris.
A literary innovator and a pioneer of Modernist literature, Stein’s work broke with the narrative, linear, and temporal conventions of the 19th-century. She was also known as a collector of Modernist art.
